A candidate from Rastriya Swatantra Party for the by-election to be held in Rupandehi constituency no. 3. Lekhjung Thapa has clarified the allegations against him.
Several questions were raised against him after he was fielded from Rupandehi-3 by the RASTRP through a primary election.
Among them, he was questioned for polygamy. Thapa’s clarification came after he was criticised for bringing pictures of his two wives on social media from social media to mass media. He also said that after the divorce with his first wife, he got married again and had a good relationship with his first wife.
Especially, he was accused of remarrying without divorcing. However, he has submitted evidence of divorce from the District Court, Rupandehi on January 1, 2019. He also revealed that he had met to give guardianship to the child born to his first wife.
In my 14-year journey as a neurosurgeon, I have closely observed thousands of children and felt the impact of the breakdown of a family on their dormant child psychology. Based on this, I am aware that family relations should not affect the child,” he wrote.
If my relationship is cordial and if it is my fault to give a child a shared guardianship with the mother who gave birth to him for the future, Then I am not ashamed of it. Should i abuse each other as soon as I say divorce, should we not accept the existence of others, whether we should not meet each other or do not be friendly with him, if my son wants his father’s relationship with his mother to be good, not only when he is a minor, but i want to strengthen that aspect of the relationship as long as I live. I don’t need anyone’s permission. ’
The other allegation against him is that he was in the proportional list of the Civil Liberation Party (NCP) in the last election. He has been criticised for being ready to go to any party for the post. He said that he has come to become an ordinary member of the RSP after finalizing all the journeys of other parties with the courage to build the country.
“Friends of the Rastriya Swatantra Party, my professional and social life is as public as an open book. Though I am fully satisfied with my professional success, As a citizen, I have joined politics dissatisfied with the distortions in the country. At some point of time, I became an ordinary member of the National Independent Party by ending my association with a party following the legal procedure so that I could contribute to the nation building. My journey is for transformative change above average politics. A person with a huge goal should not be afraid of any such attack, but I do not want to put a small stain on the party for my personal reasons.”
